Indeed, defence issues have recently featured prominently on the European agenda. Following the December 2013 European Council dedicated to Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), Member States and European Institutions seem ready to act to for the reinforcement of the defence industry in Europe to face increasing competition in the global marketplace, to invest in research and technology, and to sustain the manufacturing of high quality equipments. In this context, this year's conference aims at stimulating the debate to define Europe's level of ambition for its defence and, as a result, to adapt the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base that will be key to maintain capabilities, technologies and jobs in Europe.
SecDef is an annual high level conference organised in Brussels which gathers key actors from both civilian and military backgrounds to exchange ideas and discuss the future of the security and defence policies in Europe.
